The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) has sent a health alert to New Jersey schools and child care settings asking us to be on increased watch for influenza-like cases in the upcoming weeks. Please use the following link to get more information about what to look for and what to do if you or your child becomes ill. http://nj.gov/cgi-bin/dhss/njnewsline/view_article.pl?id=3321 Please note that symptoms of Swine Flu are similar to seasonal illnesses and include: fever, lack of appetite, coughing and fatigue. Some people have also had sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If you have these symptoms, you may simply have a cold and NOT Swine Flu. There is no need to panic, contact your physician if you have questions. No fatalities have been reported in the United States from Swine Flu. Here is what you should do: Ø Use frequent and thorough hand washing to kill germs on the hands. Ø Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing. Ø Keep your child at home if he/she is feeling sick. Ø Call your physician for questions and concerns. If your child becomes sick at school, you must come to school to bring him/her home. Your child must then remain at home for 24-48 hours after symptoms have ended. Our goal is to limit exposure to any illnesses. You can reach the Student Health Center at 609-530-3167 TTY: 609-530-3169 Other links to information about swine flu and illness prevention can be found at:
